Fatty Acid Composition in the Lipids of some Marine Chiorococcales and Eustigmatales

چکیده
The fatty acid composition in the lipids of six coccoid microalgae species ( ~ 2 îm in diameter) was investigated. In addition to analyses of ultrastructure and pigment content, lipid composition is shown to be a chem otaxonom ic tool in the classification of algae. The four species of Chiorococ cales (Chlorophyceae) — the marine species as well as the fresh water species, both kept in artificial seawater — contain a fatty acid com position resembling that of Chlorella spp. and of green leaves of higher plants. The fatty acid pattern is characterized as lacking in C20 acids but containing large amounts of C 16 and C 18 polyunsaturated fatty acids, hexadecatrienic acid (16:3) and a-linolenic acid (18:3co3) in particular. In contrast the two species of Eustigmatales (Eustigm atophyceae) investigated here show a deficiency of the C 16 and C 18 polyunsaturated fatty acids but contain large amounts of eicosapentaenic acid (20:5).

Seasonal variations of total lipids, fatty acid composition, of Nizimuddinia zanardini from the seashore of Chabahar
The Iran’s coastal marine algae have great potential in the fields of medicine, food and cosmetics which unfortunately, fewer have been studied. In the present study, Total lipid and fatty acid profile of brown algae, N. zanardini were measured in both cold and warm season. The total lipid content with 41.1±0.8 mg/g dry weight was high in February. In the present study, Fatty acid composition o...
متن کاملSeasonal Changes in the Content and Composition of Lipids in Acropora downingi
The lipid content and composition of the reef-building coral Acropora downingi, the largest coral reef of Hengam Island, were examined throughout a year. The results showed that the lipid content of A. downingi significantly differs in different seasons (t-test, P< 0.05). Depending on the season and spawning times, the lipid content of A. downingi ranged from 16.5 to 37.7 % (dry weight). The to...
متن کاملComparative Analysis of Fatty Acid Composition of Yolk Lipids in Indigenous and Conventional Chicken Eggs
Eggs of the indigenous laying hens are preferred by consumers to those obtained from commercial breeds. The present study aimed to compare the fatty acid (FA) composition of yolk lipids of indigenous eggs (Indigenous; n = 20) and conventional eggs (Conventional; n = 20). Indigenous and conventional eggs were collected from Lori layer hens reared under free-range condition and an commercial farm...

Body composition and fatty acid profile of the body tissue of Caspian kutum (Rutilus frisii kutum) fish larvae were determined from fertilized egg to 50 days post hatching (dph). Feeding with rotifer started from day 3 to day 7 thereafter they were fed with dry food until the end of the experiment. The changes observed in lipid content and the decrease in lipid levels during larval ontogeny ref...
